Vestibular therapy.

Vestibular therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy offered at Perilli Physical Therapy. Vestibular therapy offers relief from vertigo and related symptoms that are most often caused by an imbalance within the inner ear. Physical therapy can help!

When does a patient need vestibular therapy?

Typically, a patient is a candidate for vestibular therapy if they fall into one of the following categories:

  • Patient is experiencing symptoms like vertigo (dizziness) or balance issues

  • Patient demonstrates a weakness in the reflex between their brain and eyes

  • Patient is healing from a concussion and vestibular therapy is identified as part of their rehab

What should patients expect from vestibular therapy?

Patients are often pleasantly surprised at how impactful physical therapy can be if you’re experiencing one of the conditions listed above.

Much of the time, symptoms are caused by a displacement of the fluid within the inner ear. Gentle movement guided by a member of our clinical team will help relocate the inner ear fluid to where it should be.

If you’re a candidate for vestibular therapy, your initial evaluation at Perilli Physical Therapy will be tailored to the symptoms you’re experiencing. Our clinical team will ask you to perform some specific movements to give us an idea of how your eyes and brain are working together.
